We scout for good locations, prepare our gear and make sure we have all the proper tags in order. The long awaited day arrives and we head for the woods and fields with great expectation. The hours pass and we haven't seen hide nor hair of our quarry. It's as if someone told them it was opening day and they better stay home. Many of us come home empty handed time after time but it doesn't make a difference because it is the pursuit that we enjoy the most. We are at peace with the world and in harmony with nature doing what we love. Then there are those times when you are at the right place at the right time. The hours spent practicing your calls and placing your decoys begins to payoff. He answers your call! Closer and closer he comes, the tension builds and there he is just a few yards away. BAM! You got him and he's a beauty, the best you've ever bagged. There is nothing like the feeling you get from a successful hunt, whether it is turkey, deer or any other specie nature provides us. All you time and preparations have finally paid off. How To Register Your Wild Turkey with the NWTFNational Wild Turkey Federation Wild Turkey Records is designed to offer NWTF members a way to register any legally-harvested wild turkey, taken anywhere in the world. Over 12,000 records are in our database. Record keeping began in fall 1982. No time limitation is placed on registering a bird as long as the hunter can provide proper documentation and signatures to meet registration requirements. Both the hunter and the primary witness must be, or must become, a current NWTF member in order to register the bird. The cost to register each bird is $10. The cost of membership is as follows: $30 per year for Regular members, $25 per year for Wheelin' Sportsman members, or $25 per year for Women In the Outdoors members. One check may be written for turkey registration and membership fee. Please allow 6-8 weeks for processing time. Once records are processed, the following will occur:
